What kind of memory should i get for my pc?

my pc laggs to much lately and i was figuring out what kind of memory should i get. By the way, i play alot of runescape (online game) and it laggs too much now with the HD update. I just want to know what kind of memory should i get for my pc or what should i do? i know i need RAM to run my pc more faster, do i just go to a computer shop and ask for RAM?…or something?

There are different kinds of ram. These include

SDRAM – very old, most expensive
DDR – fairly old, but still used for Pentium 4 (P4) PC
DDR2 – most popular, newer, cheaper
DDR3 – newest, expensive

Your computer can only support one of these kinds of RAM (see your motherboard specification). DDR2 is around since the last days of P4 and until now. I’m almost certain you don’t have DDR3. Nowadays, I recommend at least 1GB of RAM. Also, don’t assume that your PC will run faster with more RAM. It will be more stable, it won’t lag as much performing certain tasks, and you will be able to multitask. So, your online game will run smoother (or what some may call faster).
