Blacksmithing is one of the eleven primary trades you can learn in Azeroth. These guys are heavy duty, taking ore and turning it into exquisitely crafted pieces of gear. As a Blacksmith, your character is able to work raw iron into armor and weapons. Blacksmiths are one of the most important professionals because their services are required by so many classes of characters, such as the Warrior and Hunter classes which need protection and weaponry to survive. The Warrior and the Hunter would seriously benefit from learning the Blacksmithing profession on their own in order to create their own weapons.

Blacksmithing compliments the Mining profession. If you are both a Blacksmith and Miner, you can find your own ore and shape it into the items you, your allies, and your consumers need instead of having to shell out some gold at the Auction House every time you want to fashion a new breastplate or chainmail.

If you want to become a Blacksmith, you must have reached the fifth level. You’ll need a trainer which can be found in close proximity to an anvil or forge. After learning the skill you’ll have to purchase a hammer. You won’t be able to create items without it. Further training is required to reach skill levels 300-375. You’ll have to journey out to special places within the WoW setting to learn from various armorsmiths and weaponsmiths. As a Blacksmith you’ll need to learn a variety of color-coded recipes, be on the constant lookout for new ore, and complete many quests. Familiarize yourself with all the basic ingredients and plans-which can be purchased from trainers, the Auction House or found on quests or in monster droppings.
