In Runescape, what types of monsters should i kill to make good money?

And where are some good mining spots for coal, iron, gold, mithril, and adamant.

Like others have said, since you’re only F2P there’s not really much you can kill to make good money – in fact, there’s almost nothing.

If you’re using ranged, I suggest you kill lesser demons. Sure, it’s crowded, but you can use safe spots. Hop to the German/French server if you can’t get a quiet world. The same applies if you’re using magic, since the lesser demons are (supposedly) weak to magic. NOTE: I only suggest doing this if you’re able to hit constantly high with the skills – 50+ ranged is a minimum in my opinion.

For melee, however, you have a wide range of things you can kill to make some money. Be warned, you won’t make much – you’ll need to be a member and get lucky with drops to make millions.

As with before, lesser demons are always a popular choice taking into account their rune med helm drops. If you want another rune drop, you could always try the cockroaches. These, however, rarely drop the rune items (I’ve barely had any). The bonus to these is that they do drop laws quite a lot, so you’ll be able to make some money.

If you want a drop of runes and are going to use these for magic/sell for a profit, there’s a few things that you can kill. If you’ve got a combat level of 50+ (you should have it higher if you’re looking to make money) then the level 7 wizards south of Varrock are your best shot. They regularly drop a vast range of runes, and if you’re wearing armour protecting you from magic won’t hit *that* much (bring food, just in case).

Like others have said Ankou are also a good source of law runes. However, these are a higher combat level and will often hit through your armour. I know cockroaches are a similar level, but they also have a greater reward.

As for your mining related question. The best spot for iron is, in my opinion, south west of Varrock. Sure, there’s only 2 mining spots, but it’s usually quiter than the Chasm mine. For coal I suggest the mining guild (you should have 60+ mining before attempting to mine coal anyway, since it’s so competitive). In the mining guild you can also find mithril ores, which – due to the abundance of coal – is favoured by most. For adamant, the best place is just outside of the mining guild. The rock spawns slowly, so you can always run back and mine coal to keep you occupied.

Gold is really hard to get in F2P, hence the high price. I suggest that you get the requirements for the crafting guild (41+ crafting and a brown apron) and mine it in there. There’s around 7 rocks, which is more than anywhere else in F2P. Due to the requirements, the number of people able to enter is also limited – making it easier than say, Rimmington.
